First things first, the SOG method is all about cramming as many small cannabis plants as possible into a small space so they can flower together and produce a ton of colas. It’s perfect for indoor grow ops and can give you some massive yields. But you gotta make sure you have:
– Lots of small cannabis plants
– 12/12 light schedule after germination
– Close proximity under the lighting system
If you don’t have the time or space to veg out your plants for months, then SOG is the way to go.
So what kind of weed works best with the SOG method? You can use feminized or autoflowering strains, but if you want a crazy-fast harvest, go for autoflowering. And look for strains with dominant apical buds, minimal lateral branching, and short flowering times. Indicas and indica-dominant hybrids are the way to go, but don’t count out sativa-dominant strains either.
To optimize your SOG experience, choose small containers and put 9-12 plants per square meter (depending on container size). Make sure each plant is the same size and put the less vigorous ones under the light and the more vigorous ones in the outer corners.
Now let’s get down to business with the five easy steps to growing cannabis plants with the SOG method:
Step 1: Switch to flowering when your plants are 5-10 inches tall and change your lights to 12/12.
Step 2: Maintain an even canopy by monitoring your plants and feeding them regularly. If one plant starts growing faster than the others, move it to a corner with less light.
Step 3: Search for males or hermaphrodites once flowering begins. Even though feminized and autoflowering strains are all female, you still gotta make sure.
Step 4: Lollipop your plants during the first two weeks of flowering to promote more energy to the upper-most buds. This is optional, but it can give you some monster yields.
Step 5: Enjoy your amazing harvest once the upper-most buds have developed in an even canopy. This is where you’ll see why it’s called the sea of green, or should I say the sea of bud.
