Yo, what’s good? It’s your boy Dan, and I’m here to talk about something serious. You know how weed is legal in some states now? Yeah, well that’s cool and all, but not everyone knows what they’re getting into. See, the thing is, weed is getting stronger these days. Like, we’re talking 25% THC or more in some strains. And if you don’t know what you’re doing, you could end up overdoing it.
Now, I’m not saying weed is dangerous or anything. It’s just that if you’re new to it, you might not know your limits. And if you go too far, you could end up feeling pretty sick. Like, have you heard of edibles? They’re like these little snacks that have weed in them. And if you eat too many, you could be in trouble.
Doctors are seeing more and more cases of overconsumption these days. Back when Colorado legalized weed in 2012, doctors saw a big increase in people who had gone too far. It wasn’t an epidemic or anything, but it was still a lot of people.
One of the reasons people are overdoing it is because they don’t realize how strong weed can be these days. Back in the day, you might have been lucky to find something with 20% THC. But now, that’s pretty average. So if you don’t know what you’re doing, you could get hit pretty hard.
And here’s the thing: edibles can take a while to kick in. Like, two hours or more sometimes. So people will eat one and then think it’s not working and eat another one. And before they know it, they’ve had way too much.
But here’s the good news: you’re not going to die from smoking or eating too much weed. Like, sure, any chemical can be dangerous if you take enough of it. But with weed, you’d have to consume something like 20,000 joints in 15 minutes to be in danger of dying.
That being said, overconsumption can still mess you up pretty badly. Like one dude ate a cookie with 65mg of THC in it and ended up smashing up his hotel room and falling off a balcony to his death.
Symptoms of overconsumption can include things like nausea and vomiting, anxiety and paranoia, and even psychosis in extreme cases. But the good news is that most of the time, doctors can just give you some fluids and wait for the high to wear off.
So look, I’m not saying anyone shouldn’t smoke weed or eat edibles or whatever. I’m just saying that if you’re new to it, be careful. Know your limits and don’t try to keep up with your friends who’ve been smoking for years.
Oh, and one last thing: don’t believe everything you read on the internet about weed overdoses. There are no reported cases of anyone ever dying from consuming too much weed. Just use common sense and everything will be fine. Peace out!
Man hospitals gotta understand it ain’t just about weed, it’s about how it affectin folks too. They need better ways to help everyone, not just pushin people away. Ain’t no need for judgment, just support.
