Why Bag Seeds, Tho?
First off, lettin’ y’all know, usin’ bag seeds saves you a grip of cash! Ain’t nobody tryna spend all their dough on seeds when you can scoop ’em right out the stash. Seed prices be hittin’ like $10 a pop, and yeah, I see them deals, but still, that’s a lot of bread just to get started.
Check it: if you found seeds in some bomb weed, then you already know that herb was hittin’. You wouldn’t be savin’ them seeds otherwise, right? So you ain’t gotta worry about playin’ the “is it good or nah?” game. You already know it’s fire.
Plus, when you rockin’ with bag seeds, you don’t gotta wait for no delivery. Them seed banks be taking their sweet time, especially since a lot of them cats be overseas. And let’s be real, you don’t want the post office snoopin’ around, tryna intercept your stash.
So What Made Me Change My Tune?
Now, here’s where it gets real. I kicked off a bag seed grow journal back in November 2021, usin’ seeds from that good good I copped in Colorado. I been at this for years, and lemme tell you, the results had me thinkin’ twice.
Most of them seeds I popped started flowerin’ after just 4 weeks under them 24/7 lights. I tried that early flowerin’ weed, and honestly? I wasn’t impressed at all. For plants that been growin’ and flowerin’ for four whole months, the quality was mad weak, and those buds was tiny compared to what I been pullin’ in from regular seeds before.
I had some seeds that didn’t flower under that constant light, which told me they was regular seeds. So I took 15 clones from those plants, and guess what? All them clones started flowerin’ under the same 24-hour light.
What I Learned About Them Seeds
So, here’s the deal: the bag seed plants started flowering quick, which means them seeds was likely from plants that was either auto flower or feminized. I figured this out since I got those seeds from different strains bought at different times, and it just don’t add up, ya dig?
This whole scenario never happened to me in my 40-plus years of growin’ weed from bag seeds. So I can only guess that the dispensaries in Colorado are peddlin’ bud from them auto flower or feminized seeds, and that’s just crazy to me.
Crazy ‘cause you ain’t gettin’ the same yields from modified seeds like you do from the regular ones. And don’t get me started on THC potency; that number on the label don’t mean squat if it ain’t from regular seeds. I grew auto flowers and feminized seeds a few times, and real talk? They a pain to grow! They be more sensitive than your sister-in-law after a long day, can’t clone ‘em, and honestly, the weed ain’t nearly as good as what I get from regular seeds.
My Final Thoughts
So here’s my conclusion, fam: if you growin’ herb at home, stick to them regular seeds. Don’t be shy, pollinate one or two females to make your own seeds. I ain’t about that modified seed life no more, not after all the lessons learned.
One day, regular seeds might just be a thing of the past, only available for breeders and whatnot. So you best believe now is the time to stock up and hold it down for the future!
