So check it, I just wrapped up a 4-month grow with some new bag seeds, and lemme tell ya, it ain’t what it used to be. You can forget about gettin’ anything good from modern bag seed. All my plants just started flowerin’ under that 24-hour light cycle like they was confused or somethin’. Ended up with tiny buds that straight-up sucked. Ain’t nobody got time for that!
What’s not so lit? I can’t grow no weed, so I been buyin’ it in Colorado. It ain’t too bad on the prices, like $85.00 per ounce at the Green Dragon weed store. But check this, I can grow it indoors for around $30.00 an ounce, and if I’m really grindin’, I could get it as low as $15. So you know I’m tryin’ to hustle that homegrown vibe, but the struggle’s real.
And don’t even get me started on those THC vape cartridges! I snag those for $25.00 a gram at LivWell, and honestly, that’s a decent deal. But then, you got the black market in the Midwest hitin’ you over the head with prices like $225 per ounce. It’s wild! The online dealers be cleanin’ up too, because the legal weed prices are even crazier than that. It’s a whole mess out here, fam.

Back to the Grow Game
So I’m back at home, tryin’ to save dough till I hit the road again. I popped my seeds the first week of November 2021, and I’m tryin’ a few new things this time around. I’m usin’ some bag seeds I found in the weed I bought in Colorado. No idea what strain or nuthin’. I’m rollin’ with 5 or 7-gallon fabric pots mostly, but I got a couple of 2.5-gallon pots ’cause I’m low on soil mix.
Crazy thing about turnin’ 70 years old is my income droppin’ like a rock ’cause of that COVID hustle. But hey, I qualify for utility help now, so my electric bill is locked at $45.00 a month, no matter how much juice I use growin’ my plants. That’s a win in my book!
I’m back to my grow setup, usin’ five Mars Hydro 1000-watt white LED lights and a couple of 300-watt old-school purple LEDs. Got my timers and a fan goin’—y’all know I gotta keep it cool. Started off with 10 bag seeds, and all of ‘em popped! My plan? Let ’em grow till I can snag some clones, then label the pots like a true scientist.
So I’m usin’ my grow tent to flower them clones with that 12-on, 12-off light cycle to identify the boys from the girls while their mamas chillin’ in another room. Ain’t no time to waste on this. But yo, I noticed my five mothers in the veg cycle startin’ to flower too. I ain’t no expert on auto-flower plants, but from my research, I know that seeds from those ain’t always female. They could turn out to be hermaphrodites, which ain’t cool at all.
Out of my five mothers, I got two males and three females. I ended up with six clones from those three females, and they chillin’ under 20 hours of light while their mothers are in the third week of flowering. I moved the clones into the flower room, but they all started flowerin’ too. I got ’em in a 2.5-gallon pot ‘cause I ain’t got no more soil, and I’m not buyin’ any more. The struggle is real, y’all!
The Wrap Up
Right now, I’m sittin’ on 10 bag seeds, four original auto mothers, four auto clones, plus three females all under 12/12 lights. I’m using four Mars Hydro 1000 watt fixtures and the two older Mars 300-watt purple fixtures. Those Mars 1000s been treatin’ me good for two years now—they’re a solid investment.
In my grow tent, I got one Mars Hydro 1000-watt fixture with seven five-week-old female clones. They gon’ stay in veg until they hit about 42 inches, then I’m switchin’ to the 12/12 light cycle to kick off the flowering stage. Ain’t tryna get too tall ’cause my ceiling is low.
But here’s the kicker: all my clones started flowering early, so I got ‘em under 12/12 light too. I been harvestin’ other plants, and let me tell you, they all leafy and not sticky at all. The weed is trash, barely givin’ me a buzz for ten minutes.
Bottom line, you can’t trust modern bag seed no more. Every seed I’ve grown from retail weed lately has been trash. It’s a straight-up shame, and we all gettin’ pushed to buy seeds. But here’s to hopin’ for better days ahead, fam!
