How to Stop Them Long-Legged Weed Seedlings from Comin’ Up

First Step: Start Right with Germination

So check it, when I’m lookin’ to germinate my weed seeds, I roll with Jiffy Peat rings. Keep it simple, ya know? I only wanna mess with my seeds one time, and that’s when I drop ‘em in the peat. Once they sprout and get ready to move to a new pot, I just gotta scoop up that whole peat ring, it’s that easy. Ain’t nobody got time for extra handling, trust me!

Gettin’ the Lights Right

Now lemme hit you with the real talk about lights. For them first couple weeks, you wanna be usin’ low watt CFL bulbs. They stay cool, so you can keep ‘em close to your plants. Here’s how I roll with the lights. I hang my CFLs in clamp light holders, and then I got the 1000 watt LEDs hangin’ from the ceiling. When I’m in that seedling stage, I keep them CFLs as close as possible to the plants. Once it’s time to switch, I pull the CFLs back and start my LEDs at 50% power. After a few days, I bump it to 75%, then finally hit that 100%. My rule? If I can chill my hand under the lights, then them plants can too!

If You Already Got Leggy Seedlings

Now if you already got them leggy seedlings fallin’ over like they drunk, don’t sweat it too much. Just get them into new pots ASAP! I bury those leggy seedlings up to about an inch from the first leaves. Just be careful not to drown ‘em or knock ‘em over when you doin’ it.
