When I was a child, Mercer Mayer was one of my favorite authors. OK, who am I kidding. I’m all grown up and Mercer Mayer is still one of my favorite authors. I still enjoy his books, and more so as I watch my children grow up with them. Imagine my excitement at finding him on YouTube, reading the books I read so often they fell apart!
Looking at the price tag on that book makes me sort of wish maybe I hadn’t loved it quite so much. I had it memorized, which was sort of a necessity since I read it so much that it is missing pages.
Anyway, take a break today and let one of America’s great children’s authors read to you thanks to his (?) YouTube channel. I’m already hooked. I suppose I should show it to the children, too, huh?

Welcome to Roscommon Acres, my little home in the country. I write here about life more abundantly, from the joy of a baby’s smile to the almost unbearable grief of losing a son. I am seeking beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, a garment of praise instead of the spirit of despair (Isaiah 61:3).
