We are doing layers again this year. We have not had very good experiences this winter with butchering the abundance of roosters we got with last years' straight run of chicks. We like eggs more than we like butchering. Fortunately we have a local organic chicken grower who actually delivers chickens and eggs to DH at work.

Can't wait to see how your experiment all works out.

Blessings in Messiah,
Navah/Teresa

We had some cornish crosses a few years ago. You are right. They just eat. We haven't had them since because my husband doesn't want to butcher them. He said because they didn't move (he pulled them around the yard in a tractor) they were not umm...clean.

It's the way it is. Sometimes some things in life absorb us and we learn through those experiences until it becomes routine and we can focus on something else.
It's amazing all that you are learning.
