I thought the title of this past was "Recovering FROM Homeschooling" - I was expecting grown homeschooled victims to tell how they overcame socialization difficulties and gained fashion sense after a sheltered life isolated from the world. :)

I'm glad you're recovering!

THAT was inspiring having just gone through surgery myself and feeling useless and frustrated while I lie here recuperating so much of the time. Thank you :-)

But how do you get an infection in your hip?

That is the question no one can quite answer. Normally, it happens in older people with a history of health problems. Theory 1 is that lower immunity in pregnancy allowed an infection to take hold and spread to the hip and post partum encouraged the development of the blood clot.

Theory 2 is that I have poor circulation which allowed the infection to take hold and allowed the clot to form.

Theory 3, which was most often cited by my orthopedic surgeon, is "bad luck." Sometimes it just happens and no one knows why.

Wow. I'm not sure how I missed this, (other than not having a working computer when it happened.)

I'm so glad to hear you're better! That kind of thing is scary and nasty. Praying!{hugs}

Dana--good to hear that things are improving!

I had a time like that after the birth of my son--my appendix had burst while I was pregnant, but wasn't discovered until later. Massive infection, pic line, home health nurse, oh, yeah. Good times--NOT!

But how do you get an infection in your hip?

What a crazy time you've had! It is good to hear you are on the mend...lots of people in the blogosphere waiting to hear that good news.

We've had a "week I dreaded", too: hubby going back to work after 12 weeks of paternity leave. Of course 6 of those were spent in Ghana for the adoption. So, this is the first week "back in the swing of things". It is going fairly well, I must say.

Continue to take care of yourself...and let others take care of you, too!

Dana, I am so glad you are recovering! And, I am glad your church family is reaching out with tangible signs of love to you and yours.

Oh, I almost forgot... a new house! Congratulations.
