I have spent the evening arguing with FeedBurner which has been about as productive as arguing with a wall, but at least that means that hopefully I will be able to relieve my bookshelf of one item gathering dust.
To a random commenter will go: Exploring Creation with Biology, Second Edition put out by Apologia. It even comes with the Solutions and Tests, still neatly wrapped in plastic wrap. I know very little about Apologia and cannot offer much of a review. I’m not even sure how I got this book, although I have a vague memory of being a random commenter selected on a blog giveaway. But we’re a long ways away from high school biology and I would prefer the book be used by someone before then.
Wow. It looks like it retails for $85 with an additional $20 for the test booklet.

My daughter who is 13 is now using a Live and Learn Press Lap Book (that was developed with the help of Apologia) It is an incredible tool to help kids learn to study on their own. This was our first Lap book, but it won’t be our last.

I have homeschooled for fifteen years now, one is grown and one is off at University. I still have four at home. My Apologia is wearing out and now with four more to go I need to replace it. No hardships but it would come in handy.
I also went a year ago and checked out all the other science curriculums out there, knowing replacement day was coming. I had help from other moms, one was a Science major in college and credentialed teacher.
We were searching for a secular curriculum that matched or beat Apologia. After weeks of research we found none. Public schools use sub par at best curriculums that cost three to ten times the price.
So we will stay with Apologia. Oh, and my now University daughter took Biology in College last semester. He raved about her coursework!! She explained what she used and she was homeschooled. So even if you don’t win, ha only one will, know it is a good curriculum.

My twins are using the Botany set and are almost done….we have loved it, but with my husband being laid off right now and the economy making it tough for him to find another job…well, no new curriculum for us this year. We really enjoy Apologia courses. Have used several of the elementary level series, and have one child using the General Science course this year. I have learned or been reminded of so much right along with my kids…and I was a Biology and Chemistry minor. I am really looking forward to working through the Biology course with my kids. My 14 year old daughter is using Physical Science this year and LOVES it. I have learned along with her on several occasions. We love the way these books are laid out to be understood!! So much better than your run of the mill textbook! Thank you for doing this drawing. It is so generous.
